With the June international break on the horizon, Kenya national team coach Benni McCarthy believes the window comes at the opportune time to asses new talents.
Kenya will take on Lesotho in back-to-back friendly encounters on 4 and 7 June, with both ties set to take place at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.
McCarthy called up five new faces for the upcoming friendlies as Defender Deon Woodman Sammy Hena-Kamauf, Micah Obiero, Sydney Agina and goalkeeper Caleb Kramer hope to impress McCarthy and his technical staff.
“The friendly matches came in at a good time because the season has just finished, and we have a lot of new Kenyan-based players that play abroad that we haven’t had our opportunity to watch them, unfortunately,” McCarthy told Flashscore.
“Now this gives us a good indication to see the levels, and the quality they have compared to previous teams that we have had, then you know I have added more to the potential of the team, and by the time September comes for the AFCON qualification matches, we will be ready.”
