Saturday’s CAF Inter-Club quarter-final first legs delivered four tense 1-1 draws, with vital away goals keeping the Champions League and Confederation Cup ties wide open.
In the Champions League, holders Pyramids FC battled to a 1-1 draw at AS FAR Rabat’s Olympic Stadium in Rabat. Ahmed Hammoudan gave the hosts an 8th-minute lead, which was cancelled out by Mahmoud Zalaka’s 52nd-minute equaliser.
At Berkane Municipal Stadium, Al Hilal Omdurman went ahead through Abdel Raouf in the 13th minute against RS Berkane, but Mounir Chouiar’s 90+9th-minute penalty secured a 1-1 stalemate. Al Hilal were reduced to 10 men late on after Steven Ebuela’s red card.
In the Confederation Cup, Zamalek SC held firm for a 1-1 draw at AS Otoho d’Oyo’s Stade Alphonse Massemba-Débat in Brazzaville. Charles Atipo opened the scoring for the hosts, with Oday Dabbagh levelling for the Egyptian giants.
At the New Suez Stadium (Suez Stadium), CR Belouizdad snatched a point away to Al Masry in a 1-1 draw. Salah Mohsen put the home side in front, only for Lofti Boussouar to equalise in stoppage time.
All four ties remain perfectly balanced heading into next weekend’s second legs, where those hard-earned away goals could ultimately decide the semi-finalists.
